What a great event! The conditions were perfect with most of the track having a good amount of rain the week leading up to the weekend, keeping the bull dust to a minimum and giving us perfect loamy dirt. The weather was ideal with no rain or fog and quite mild even during the night laps.
 
DIRT ACTIONS' Craig Douglas was a big surprise and a thrill to watch on one of SADB's KLX450R's but unfortunately gained a 100 point penalty when he missed a diversion sign and went down the sidecar/rally class track in the 2nd competitive section, the guy was just going to fast for his own good!  Without this penalty, he would've finished top 5!  Craig, who had never ridden at night before, loved the event and the pro offroad rider, who'd never ridden at night before, will be back next year to take on the legendary race.  Watch out for his take on South Australia's 24 HOUR in the next issue of DIRT ACTION.

Muz from TRAILZONE magazine also had a ride on a SADB KLX450R and is another 24 rookie who had never ridden in the dark.  What seemed to be the entire TRAILZONE staff followed him around all night and they all had a blast.  Muz was pleasantly surprised with the course, having expected more bitumen transport sections, and was well impressed with the way the whole event was organized and run.  He couldn't believe how fast some of the front runners, like Shane Diener, were going through the trees, rocks and creeks during the night laps.  Muz finished with a big smile on his dial and we look forward to reading the article in the next issue of TRAILZONE.
